A few days ago, Chinese-vendor Honor released in China its latest gaming smartphones baptized Honor Play 4 and Play 4 Pro.

With the 2020 coronavirus outbreak fading away, Huawei’s subsidiary Honor sees an opportunity to embed a unique feature into its new high-end smartphone.

The Honor Play 4 Pro is capable of detecting temperatures between -20 and 100° Celsius. It can also measure the temperature of other people from a few centimeters away from the device. The device works exactly like a medical infrared thermometer and should be pointed to the person’s forehead to measure the body temperature.

Honor Play 4, Honor Play 4 Pro with hole-punch display and 5G support

The two new smartphones are 5G ready and declined in a range of three colors. Other common features consist of a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, and Bluetooth 5.1.

The Honor Play 4 embeds a 6.81-inch LCD (IPS) screen with a punch-hole camera notch on the upper left corner for the 16MP front camera. On the back, the smartphone is equipped with a quad-lens rear camera combining a main 64MP lens, an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

The gaming handset runs Magic UI which is based on Android 10. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800, as well as a 4300mAh battery, and holds an IP5X water resistance rating.

The Play 4 comes in two versions: 6GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage for ~$252, 8GB RAM + 128GB internal at ~$280. It is available in black, blue and an opalescent pink.

The Honor Play 4 Pro sports a 6.57-inch LCD (IPS) screen featuring a dual camera consisting of a 32MP lens combined with an 8MP lens on the front. The main camera setup has two lenses, a 40 MP lens with the Sony IMX600 sensor, a 1/1.7” sensor and an RYYB filter, and a secondary 8MP lens. The phone features the Kirin 990 5G SoC, and run Magic UI based on Android 10. It supports 40W fast charging and embeds a 4200mAh battery.

The Honor Play 4 Pro is declined in two versions which both embed 8GB of RAM + 128GB internal storage. The only difference between the two versions is the IR blaster that will bring the cost up to ~$421 versus ~$407 without it. The Play 4 Pro is available in three nuances: black, blue, and a slightly different blue.

These two smartphones are not yet available in Myanmar. We will update this post as soon as we receive more details about price and availability in the country.
