Resistance forces ordered a temporary ban on Starlink Wi-Fi use in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, following the junta’s recapture of Indaw Town on April 30, 2026. The ban covers public Wi-Fi outlets and residential use, with an exemption for NUG offices. Violations risk warnings and device confiscation.

The shutdown is resistance-imposed — a rare inversion of the usual pattern — driven by operational security concerns as junta columns advance toward Mawlu. A similar ban was already in place in neighbouring Katha Township. Since March 2026, junta forces have retaken Tigyaing, Takaung, Katha, and now Indaw in an offensive to recapture resistance-held areas in Sagaing.
