MPT grasping the OTT opportunity

Myanmar PUBG MPT 4G

Price war is over. That is the clear trend that emerge from the mobile landscape over the past few months. Mobile data price in Myanmar has even started to increase slightly.

With this price stabilization and a certain alignment enforced by the regulator, mobile operators need to find new ways to differentiate their service if they want to consolidate their market share. Content is clearly at the heart of the mobile operator’s strategy these days in Myanmar.

By partnering with OTT players, telcos can achieve multiple objectives: increasing data usage is one of these. Increase in usage means increase in ARPU which can definitely help coping with years of price drop.

Mobile operators are also keen to reduce churn by developing a unique offering by signing exclusive deals with content providers.

MPT is obviously going through that path as proven by their latest press releases.
